The number of countries and territories where the highly contagious coronavirus strain (delta) is circulating reached 124 as of July 20, Report informs with reference to WHO.
As noted in the WHO weekly epidemiological bulletin, from July 13 to 20, the delta strain was spotted in 13 territories, where it was not reported before.
WHO stresses that the geography of the four strains (alpha, beta, gamma, and delta) categorized as variants of concern (VOC) continues to grow. At the same time, according to experts' forecasts, the delta variant will quickly surpass others and, in the coming months, will become the dominant COVID strain in the world.
