China delivers next batch of COVID vaccine to Azerbaijan

Another batch of coronavirus vaccine has arrived from China to Azerbaijan, Report informs.

The plane carrying 500,000 doses of CoronoVAC vaccine produced by the Chinese company SinoVac has landed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

The aircraft with vaccines on board was welcomed by Azerbaijani officials and Chinese Ambassador to Baku Guo Min.

This is while 84,000 doses of Vaxzevria (formerly AstraZeneca) vaccine will arrive in Azerbaijan from South Korea on April 5. By the end of May, Azerbaijan plans to import 432,000 doses of Vaxzevria vaccine. This vaccine is produced by a joint Anglo-Swedish company. Also, within eight weeks, 218,790 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be delivered to Azerbaijan.

The process of vaccination against COVID-19 with the CoronoVAC jab produced by China's SinoVac began in Azerbaijan on January 18. Immunization is carried out on a voluntary basis and at the expense of the state. According to the operational headquarters under the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers, the country has already vaccined 547,541 people against COVID-19.
