Can one contract coronavirus by touching money?

"The recommendations of the Cabinet Operational Headquarters do not include WHO's cash regulation," an official at the operational headquarters said.

According to Report, Yagut Garayeva, head of the department for disease control and prevention at the Association for Management of Medical Territorial Subdivisions of Azerbaijan (TƏBİB) has commented on the possibility of contracting the virus through money.

According to her, in any case, it is necessary to follow the WHO recommendations: "It is advisable that everyone follows these recommendations."

While talking about the possibility of bacterial transmission through paper money, Garayeva said: "Frequent contact with some objects leads to microbiological contamination. We have repeatedly noted that this type of coronavirus is not very resistant to the environment and dies on the surface of surrounding objects. We urge to follow hygienic rules and wash hands after touching money and other things.

"Money has not yet been identified as a source of infection,"  said chief infectious diseases specialist Jalal Isayev.
