Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent complications of the coronavirus infection, and it is proven by scientific research, said Zakir Bayramov, an expert-geneticist at the Azerbaijani Health Ministry, Report informs.
Zakir Bayramov recommended that citizens get their booster dose five months after their second dose or after recovering from COVID-19 to protect themselves from the Omicron strain.
"Until any virus can be identified by PCR, its genetic identification (the sequence of DNA or RNA material) is carried out. Their identification is currently carried out by modern devices (sequencers). This stage is called sequencing. It is after the sequencing stage that we determine which amino acid sequence the virus consists of.
At the same time, we use its main 'carrier' part as 'determinant primers' in PCR reactions. As you know, the spread of coronavirus worldwide is growing, which is due to viral mutations. As part of the measures taken to control the epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan, genetic variants of the virus are regularly analyzed," Bayramov said.
