Azerbaijan signs contract for 4M doses of CoronaVac vaccine

Azerbaijan has signed a contract for the supply of 4 million doses of the CoronaVac coronavirus vaccine from China, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with foreign media, answering a question from TASS, Report informs.

‘Regarding the CoronaVac vaccine, 4 million doses have been contracted, and I get informed every day that about 15,000-20,000 citizens are vaccinated,’ he said.

The president pointed out that from the very beginning, Azerbaijan joined the international COVAX program, according to which the country was also supposed to receive AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Pfizer vaccines.

‘Also, with the Russian side, from the very first days, we signed documents for the supply of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Azerbaijan, since Russian companies are distributors of this vaccine in the post-Soviet space, as well as for the supply of the Sputnik V vaccine. We haven’t received these vaccines yet,’ he added.

Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan intends to use all opportunities in the field of vaccination.
