Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency: Children in kindergartens don’t get essential nutrients

“As a result of the monitoring, it was established that the responsible persons of preschool educational institutions and catering staff in Azerbaijan have insufficient knowledge in the field of food safety. They don’t even know about the existence of regulations in this area,” said Shahla Yusifzade, an employee of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan, Report informs.

She was commenting on the proper organization of children’s nutrition in preschool educational institutions and the requirements of technical regulatory legal acts in the field of food safety.

She noted that the menus drawn up in educational institutions don’t correspond to the norms of the physiological needs of children in accordance with their age group: “That is, during the day the child doesn’t receive the necessary nutrients. The menu doesn’t always correspond to the established norms.”
