Azerbaijan records 24 cases of measles this year

This year, 24 cases of measles were recorded in Azerbaijan, Gulafat Azadaliyeva, head of the immunoprophylaxis department of the Republican Hygiene and Epidemiology Center of the Ministry of Health, told Report.

According to her, these facts are also related to migration: "Persons returning from a foreign country can infect several people. Because this is a highly infectious disease transmitted by airborne droplets."

She said that 18 of those people are to Baku: "As for the age group of those infected with the disease, 1 person is 0-1 years old, 18 people are 1-18 years old, and 5 people are over 18 years old. In total, 84% of those infected are those who are not vaccinated against the disease".

Azadaliyeva recalled that full vaccination against measles and other vaccines prevents children from contracting relevant diseases for life.
