Azerbaijan proposes to establish transplant center for Turkic countries

Last year, in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan proposed the creation of a unified Turkic transplant center, Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev said in his statement to journalists, Report informs.

The minister noted that the goal is to increase the accessibility of certain medical services for a population of nearly 160 million:

"There is a unified institution for transplantology in Europe. We thought that such an institution could be created within the framework of Turkic states. At the initial stage, this would be a unified information center."

He stated that the number of donors varies in different countries according to their population, while the number of citizens in need is quite significant:

"The existence of such a unified system creates opportunities for cross-transplantation."
