717 people infected with HIV in Azerbaijan this year

This year, 717 people were infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Azerbaijan, the Republican AIDS Center told Report.

There is a decrease in the number of new cases of infection of drug addicts with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus in the country.

"In the past 9 months, 717 people were infected with HIV. 691 of them were citizens of Azerbaijan, and 26 were foreigners. Among the citizens of Azerbaijan, 59 people (8%) were injection drug users," the Center said.
