Baku. 9 January. REPORT.AZ/ 243,226 people in Azerbaijan are diabetes patients as of early January, Director of the Republican Endocrinology Center Yusif Ismizade has said.
Report informs that he said 53,401 patients take insulin, 36,963 take both insulin and sugar pills, and 152,862 patients take pills. Of the 1600 patients requiring insulin are children under the age of 18.
He noted that a single registry of such patients was created to improve registration, provision of patients with medication and self-control means: “20-25 thousand people are diagnosed with diabetes every year in Azerbaijan. An electronic registry and a database on Baku have already been completed. At present, 65 455 patients have an electronic health card. This work will be completed within 6 months of 2019 in the regions."
