Vasseur: Ferrari will be aiming to do everything perfectly in Baku with Leclerc, Sainz

Following Ferrari's win at the Italian Grand Prix, the team principal and general manager of Scuderia Ferrari, Fred Vasseur is reassured that he is implementing the correct methods at the team, Report informs via GPblog.

After previous success at the venue, the Ferrari team boss feels confident that the Italian team can compete at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.

Charles Leclerc has achieved three pole positions in Baku and is the only driver to start on pole at the venue multiple times. In fact, Leclerc has been on pole in Baku every year since the track returned to the calendar following the break enforced by COVID-19. Vasseur wants to draw on this experience to perform well again in Baku.

"The Baku street circuit features a combination of very high speed sections and extremely twisty ones, presenting a unique set of challenges. In the past, we have usually been quite competitive here and it is also one of Charles’ favorites. We are on a high following the win in Monza and we are determined to maintain this run of form," Vasseur said. Despite those three pole positions, Leclerc has never won a GP in Baku.

Leclerc's win in Monza moved Ferrari to within 39 points of leaders Red Bull. While plenty of attention is on McLaren's hunt, Ferrari is well in the mix as well, with just eight Grands Prix remaining. But Vasseur doesn't want to be distracted by what his rivals are doing.

"Our win in Italy also supports my view that how you execute the weekend from Friday to Sunday can play as important a role as the actual performance level of the car, so with Charles and Carlos we will again be aiming to do everything perfectly in Baku, to try and bring home another very good result for the team," he concluded.
