Zakharova: 'We hope Yerevan and Baku will implement initiatives developed together with Russia'

Peace initiatives developed jointly with Russia will be implemented during the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, Report informs via Sputnik radio.

"This region can literally be called a key region. It is another region where there is still hope that the peace initiatives developed by the parties together with Russia will be implemented," she said.

According to her, West's policy of "infiltrating the situation" is being conducted not to resolve the conflict, but with "exactly opposite goals."

"Unfortunately, we have been observing such a trend here for many years. Now the Westerners have become even more active," the diplomat added.

She recalled that there are no successful examples of conflict resolution with the participation of Western partners, while "the number of conflicts for the reason of and at the initiative of the collective West is increasing."

"No one will be able to say that somewhere where the West has stepped or wanted to step has become a better place," Zakharova stated.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted during a press conference following talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov that the European Union is abusing its relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia, promoting its civilian mission in the latter's territory.
