The change of Ukraine’s defense minister won’t affect the bilateral cooperation in the field of defense with Azerbaijan, Yuriy Kamelchuk, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the ruling Servant of the People party, told the Eastern Europe bureau of Report.
Kamelchuk was commenting on the appointment of Oleksiy Reznikov to the post of the defense minister.
The Ukrainian MP said that the relations between the two countries are traditionally warm and will only get stronger. “The current relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are reaching a new level of economic cooperation. We provide each other with constant support, which in turn helps to strengthen confidence,” he said.
Kamelchuk stressed that the need for cooperation in the field of defense is difficult to overestimate: “Azerbaijan remains one of the main partners of Ukraine in the field of military-technical cooperation.”
The deputy expressed hope that the appointment of Oleksiy Reznikov as defense minister will contribute to the further development of bilateral cooperation in this area.
