Tahir Budaghov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) and Head of the Central Office, participated in the opening ceremony of the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) hosted by the Cambodian People's Party in Phnom Penh, Report informs.
The 12th General Assembly, themed "In Search of Peace and Reconciliation," brought together 49 political parties from 28 countries. During the event, Budaghov read the address of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the participants.
Special guests, including Lao Vice President Pany Yathotou, President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Trần Thanh Mẫn, President of the Centrist Democrat International (CDI) and former President of Colombia Andres Pastrana Arango, and Deputy Chairman of Türkiye's Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Zafer Sirakaya, also delivered speeches.
Budagov emphasized that the plenary session, themed "In Search of Peace and Reconciliation," is dedicated to a crucial issue not only for the member countries represented but for all of humanity.
He noted that in today's world, complex processes and rapid changes are taking place, with political cataclysms accompanied by crises and confrontations affecting many countries. The official added that in such a challenging environment, the search for peace and reconciliation has become an absolute necessity.
Budagov highlighted that representatives of various nations live in peace, tranquility, and friendship in Azerbaijan today. He stated that based on the realities created by Azerbaijan, the peace agenda in the South Caucasus has been determined.
"The signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the delimitation and demarcation of borders and the restoration of communications, are important components of this agenda and are in the focus of the international community. Azerbaijan has demonstrated political will within the peacemaking process, proposing relevant offers based on five basic principles grounded in legal norms, and expects the same constructive approach from Armenia," Budagov said.
The 12th General Assembly concluded with the signing of memorandums of understanding between ICAPP, the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
