Western Azerbaijan Community: US embassy tried to mislead public with its statement

The US Embassy in Baku avoided answering Azerbaijani media's question about possible Washington actions to protect Azerbaijan's cultural heritage in Armenia, only mentioning certain projects proposed by this country in Azerbaijan's liberated territories. Moreover, in its statement, the US Embassy attempted to mislead the public, reads a statement by the Western Azerbaijan Community, Report informs.

"We believe that the US Embassy, through its response tone, including the assessment of media subjects' questions as 'attempts to mislead,' demonstrated its true attitude towards the principles of 'freedom of speech' and 'diversity of opinions' that the US always proclaims. The Western Azerbaijan Community regretfully notes the US's ignoring of the problem of Azerbaijanis forcibly expelled from Armenia, including the destruction of their cultural heritage. There is still no response to our letter sent to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in April last year, requesting support for our right to return," the statement says.

The community also emphasized that the current US administration uses "human rights" and "cultural heritage" topics exclusively to make false accusations against Azerbaijan.

"We strongly condemn the discrimination by the current US administration against Azerbaijanis. We call for abandoning biased policies, at least shortly before the end of their term. We also call on Secretary of State Antony Blinken to respond to our letter," the community noted.
