Uzeyir Hajibeyli's monument to be opened in St. Petersburg next year

The monument of genius composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli will be erected in Saint Petersburg, where he studied at the beginning of the 20th century, the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, who is on an official visit to Baku, said at the meeting with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov Report informs, citing the press service of the city administration.

"We are working on erecting a monument to Uzeyir Hajibeyli in St. Petersburg. The ceremonial opening of the monument will take place in September 2025, on the 140th anniversary of his birth," the governor said.

The author of the monument is Aydin Zeynalov, a sculptor, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts and Florence Academy of Arts.

Uzeyir Hajibeyli (1885-1948) studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in 1913. During this period, he wrote the musical comedy "Arshin Mal Alan".
