Uzbekistan’s Khiva hosts Shusha Days

The Shusha City State Reserve Administration organized Shusha Days in Khiva, Uzbekistan, from September 11-12, Report informs.

The event showcased the rich cultural heritage and ongoing revival of Shusha, Azerbaijan's historic city recently liberated from occupation.

During the event, Aydin Karimov, the Special Representative of the President, met with Temur Davletov, the Governor of Khiva. The meeting highlighted the growing ties between the two cities, which became sister cities in February 2023.

Aydin Karimov, along with Tural Novruzov, Executive Director of the Shusha City State Reserve Administration, and Elshad Iskandarov, Chief Advisor to the Special Representative, also visited Urgench State University. In a meeting with the university's rector, Bahram Abdullayev, they discussed the establishment of the Y.V. Chamanzaminli Azerbaijan Culture and Literature Center.

Karimov provided detailed information about the ongoing restoration, construction, and renovation work in the historic city of Shusha. The university was presented with a portrait of Y.V. Chamanzaminli, painted by a Shusha artist, and students performed a small concert program.

A photo exhibition titled "Shusha - Yesterday and Today" showcased various photographs depicting Shusha's historical past, enchanting nature, pre- and post-occupation appearance, and the ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts. Detailed information was provided about each photograph.

As of February 24, 2023, Shusha and Khiva are sister cities.
