After 30 years, Azerbaijani IDPs finally have the opportunity to return to their homes, UNHCR Country Representative in Azerbaijan Guido Ambroso said at the opening of the International Charity Fair in Baku.
According to Report, Ambroso said he remembers the times when IDPs lived in terrible conditions.
He added that at that time the UN worked closely with the government of Azerbaijan to help the IDPs.
And finally, after 30 years, they have the opportunity to return to their homes, Ambroso said.
He stressed that over the past 30 years Azerbaijan has achieved great success in its development.
Since joining the UN, Azerbaijan has contributed to the implementation of the principles of the organization, Ambroso said.
He added that Azerbaijan had also helped in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic by providing assistance to countries in need.
Ambroso also commended Azerbaijan's humanitarian aid sent to Ukraine.
