UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs to visit Azerbaijan

United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo will travel to the South Caucasus region from 24 to 30 October 2019 in connection with the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and to pay working visits to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia, Report informs citing the press-service of UN Office in Azerbaijan.

From 25 to 26 October, USG DiCarlo will represent the Secretary-General at the 18th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement. In Baku, she will hold bilateral consultations with Azerbaijani government officials, representatives of UN agencies and partner civil society organizations based in Azerbaijan, including youth groups. On the margins of the Summit she is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with representatives of several NAM Member States.

On 27 and 28 October, the Under-Secretary-General will be in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she will meet with Georgian government officials, representatives of UN agencies and partner civil society organizations based in Georgia, including women representatives. Accompanied by the UN Representative to the Geneva International Discussions (GID) Ms. Cihan Sultanoglu, she will have bilateral consultations with Georgian officials on UN’s efforts to promote progress with regards to issues on the GID agenda, as well as related to Women, Peace and Security, as part of the UN’s Co-Chairmanship of this important process.

On 28 and 29 October, Ms. DiCarlo will visit Yerevan, Armenia, for bilateral consultations with Armenian government officials, representatives of UN agencies and partner civil society organizations based in Armenia, including women’s groups.
