Ukraine envoy, UN coordinator discuss cooperation in Azerbaijan

Ukraine's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husyev, met with the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Dmytro Shlapachenko, to discuss support for Ukraine, humanitarian issues and prospects for bilateral cooperation.

According to a statement posted by Husyev on Facebook, the two sides exchanged views on current international challenges, the role of the United Nations in promoting peace and sustainable development, and opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the Ukrainian Embassy in Baku and the UN office in Azerbaijan.

The ambassador said the meeting placed particular emphasis on support for Ukraine amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, humanitarian needs, demining efforts, the reconstruction of affected regions, and the importance of upholding the principles of the UN Charter and international law.

The parties agreed to maintain regular dialogue and work together on initiatives aimed at strengthening international security and achieving a just and lasting peace.

Husyev also wished Shlapachenko success in his new role and expressed hope for productive cooperation.
