For many years, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, as two independent states, have been consistently developing relations in the broadest range of directions.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made the remark during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev through video conferencing, Report informs.
“And it should be emphasized that the basis of our effective bilateral relations is the open, constructive, friendly, political dialogue that has developed at the highest state level. Relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are growing consistently and dynamically. We successfully cooperate in the international arena, advocating the consolidation of universal peace, stability, and security. Our countries share approaches on such an important global topic as energy security,” the president said.
Berdimuhamedov also highly appreciated the cooperation between the two countries on international platforms.
“Turkmenistan is grateful to Azerbaijan for the continued support of its international initiatives and co-authorship on a number of UN General Assembly draft resolutions put forward by Turkmenistan. The most important branch of our partnership is the transport sector. Together with Afghan, Turkish, and Georgian partners, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are effectively working on the Lapis Lazuli transport corridor, designed to become the most crucial continental highway between Asia and Europe. Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are initiators of the idea of creating the Caspian-Black Sea transport line,” he added.
