Turkmen president says joint work at Dostlug field will be effective

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on joint exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostlug field in the Caspian Sea resulted from many years of work.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made the remark during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev through video conferencing, Report informs.

"We are embarking on a significant and promising project. I am convinced that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan's joint work at the Dostlug field will be successful and effective. I sincerely thank you for supporting this historic document, for your great attention and personal contribution to the development and strengthening of friendship, brotherhood, and cooperation between our peoples and states," Berbimuhamedov said.

It aims to strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding in the energy sector, unlocking the massive joint potential of two major energy powers, creating the most favorable conditions in the Caspian Sea region to develop sustainable energy, broad and mutually beneficial international partnership, he added.

Berdimuhamedov also noted the high level of Azerbaijani-Turkmen relations in many sectors, emphasizing the successful chairmanship of Azerbaijan in the Non-Aligned Movement, "which confirmed the high authority of Azerbaijan and its leadership."
