Turkish Foreign Ministry welcomes Azerbaijan-Armenia joint statement

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the joint statement of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration and the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, expressing support for “continuing discussions on taking additional steps,” Report informs referring to a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

“We welcome the decision to take some concrete steps to strengthen trust between the two countries, announced in a joint statement by the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan and the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia; we support the decision to continue discussions regarding additional steps to build trust.

We wish the speedy signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which will become one of the most important events in the process of establishing permanent peace and stability in the South Caucasus,” reads the statement.

As a result of negotiations held between the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, in the spirit of commitment to the principle of humanism, as a measure of mutual trust between the two countries and an indicator of goodwill, an agreement was reached on the release of 32 persons of Armenian origin by Azerbaijan and two Azerbaijani servicemen by Armenia.
