Ogtay Asadov: Turkic Speaking States should develop cooperation based on mutual trust

"Cooperation within parliament promotes the use of the rich potential of parliamentary diplomacy in the development of political, commercial, economic and cultural relations between countries," Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov said at the TURKPA session in Baku.

According to him, the importance and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the modern world have grown considerably.

"I believe that inter-parliamentary cooperation contributes greatly to the settlement of conflicts in our region. Therefore, the Turkic-speaking states should develop cooperation based on mutual trust."

Asadov said that Turkic-speaking countries locate conveniently in one of the world's most important regions: "Unfortunately, long-standing conflict centers impede economic cooperation between the two countries and pose a serious threat to regional and international peace and security. Armenian military aggression led to the occupation of 20% of our lands."
