"The recent statements by the co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have proved that they do not give up their unhealthy intentions against Azerbaijan, even in the current global threat to humanity. Their thoughts are affected by a coronavirus."
First Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ali Huseynli told in response to the statements made by PACE co-rapporteurs Sunna Ævarsdottir, Roger Gale, and Stefan Schennach against Azerbaijan.
Huseynli reminded the authors of the statements mentioned above that while congratulating the people on the occasion of Novruz holiday the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev also called on the opposition parties to dialogue and showed a great example of solidarity:
"The overwhelming majority of the Azerbaijani opposition and representatives of civil society have expressed support for the thesis of the President's speech. It seems that the co-rapporteurs did not understand or did not intend to understand the essence of President Ilham Aliyev's speech. The head of our state is closely united with the people in these difficult times by exemplary actions in the face of global threat. Today Azerbaijan today is an example to the countries of those co-rapporteurs. The world appreciates this, and the relevant international organizations set an example. "
Huseynli recalled the recent new stage of reforms in Azerbaijan, radical innovations in various fields, including the renewal of the parliament, and called on the co-rapporteurs to first of all correct their thinking:
"With such statements, they undermine the confidence of their countries and the institution they represent in these difficult days. However, people today need universal solidarity. "
