Tase: Azerbaijan is strategic ally of EU

The Visit of Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi to Baku is a unique milestone in the relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Commission, US political scientist, an expert in international relations Peter Tase told Report commenting on the EU commissioner’s speech at the press conference in Baku.

With this visit, the EU has recognized the new geopolitical and geography of the South Caucasus Region, shaped by the glorious Armed Forces of Azerbaijan under the great leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Tase said.

He noted the importance of using “post-conflict” terminology by European authorities, which is a clear testament of Brussels’ posture in favor of Democracy, Rule of Law, and full territorial sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

“Baku is Eurasia’s capital with the most pro-European sentiment and the highest popular support towards European Union. This is made clear by the great level of multiculturalism policy and cultural diplomacy of Azerbaijan that is always in action and shares the best practices with other European nations,” Tase noted.

He added that the EU must continue with its monumental efforts to pressure Armenia in making public all maps that identify the precise location of land mines and anti-tank mines that were implanted by Armenian Armed Forces inside the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan.

“EU has a great potential to contribute towards lasting peace in the Southern Caucasus. European Commission has large financial resources that can be allocated towards the reconstruction and restoration of many cultural, archaeological, and religious sites inside the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan that were brutally destroyed by the fascist regime of Armenia,” he said.

Tase added that the EU can also actively participate in the urban development and infrastructure, agriculture projects inside Nagorno Karabakh, a region of Azerbaijan that very soon will become a major international trade hub in Eurasia.
