Tahir Mirkishili reacts to Armenian speaker’s statement on Armenian servicemen in Azerbaijan

MP Tahir Mirkishili of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament) has commented on a statement by acting Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan about the retention of Armenian servicemen in Azerbaijan.

Report informs that speaking at a meeting between representatives of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly and acting Speaker of the Armenian parliament Hakob Arshakyan, Tahir Mirkishili noted that the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was over. He added that there was no more such territorial unit in Azerbaijan, recalled the importance of paying more attention to defining the borders, signing a peace treaty, and opening communications.

At the same time, he said that all the destruction and tragedies in the region had occurred on the territory of Azerbaijan. In the liberated territories, more than 900 towns and villages, including his own house, had been razed to the ground. The parliamentarian noted that Azerbaijan always respects the cultural heritage of all peoples, and the persons held in Azerbaijan are not prisoners, but criminals, whose guilt was proven in court.
