Statute of Azerbaijan-Armenia border delimitation commissions comes into force

The tenth meeting of the State Commission on the delimitation of the state border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, and the Commission on delimitation of the state border and border security issues between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on November 1 at the border between the two countries. The meeting was chaired by Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Mher Grigoryan, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

Report informs that, according to Article 7 of the Statute on the joint activities of the aforementioned commissions, signed on August 30, 2024, the parties exchanged notifications about the completion of the necessary domestic procedures by their states for the entry into force of the Statute. Considering that Article 7 of the Statute stipulates its entry into force on the day of receipt of the last written notification of the completion of such procedures, the parties emphasized that the Statute comes into force on November 1, 2024.

The parties exchanged views on the sequence of sections/parts of the border line for the implementation of delimitation works at the next stage. They also discussed draft instructions on the procedure for carrying out delimitation works.

The parties agreed to determine the date and place of the next meeting in a working order. After the meeting of the Commissions, Shahin Mustafayev and Mher Grigoryan separately discussed transport communication issues.
