State Department: US supports Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agreement for its benefit for wider region

"We stand ready to assist in any process that brings peace and stability to the people of the South Caucasus," an official representative of the US State Department told Report.

“Secretary Blinken as well as a number of other US officials are deeply engaged and are in regular communication with senior officials in both the Armenian and Azerbaijani governments.

As we have consistently reiterated, the United States is committed to supporting Armenia and Azerbaijan as they work to conclude a peace agreement.

We are encouraged by the progress that has been made so far between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and support the two countries concluding a peace agreement as soon as possible for the benefit of the wider region.

We welcome the continued progress on border delimitation, based on the Alma-Ata Declaration. This is an important step towards concluding a durable and dignified peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the official stated.
