Azerbaijani parliament speaker meets with her Uzbek counterpart

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, has had a meeting with Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva in Dushanbe, Report informs, citing Milli Majlis.

Congratulating Sahiba Gafarova on the successful Milli Majlis elections and her re-election as Head of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Tanzila Narbayeva added confidently that the legislative bodies of the two countries would continue cooperation at a prominent level and maintain close contacts in the coming period.

They expressed satisfaction with the dynamic advancement of the relations between our friendly and brotherly countries.

It was said that the similar religious and spiritual values as well as the linguistic affinity of our peoples make a great contribution to further expansion of our ties.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova said relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan had reached a new level since their independence. The speakers then emphasized the role of the Heads of State in the development of broad ties between the two countries covering many spheres.

It was further remarked that the energetic evolution of the two friendly countries’ cooperation serves to further the expansion of the ties between the legislative bodies as well.

Recalling with appreciation the bilateral meetings held in the past years both in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the Speakers of Parliament emphasized the significant contribution of mutual contacts and visits to our relations.

The speakers stressed the importance of the 2024-2025 Practical Action Plan (the Road Map’), signed this year to further deepen bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation, for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

The meeting also saw an exchange of opinions about other matters of shared interest.
