Somali FM: 'We are glad Azerbaijan liberated its historical lands from occupation'

"We are glad that Azerbaijan has liberated its historical lands from occupation. During my visit to Baku, I conveyed congratulations to my colleague and the Azerbaijani people," Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, told the correspondent of the US bureau of Report.

He reminded that a few months earlier he had visited Baku at the invitation of his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.

"There are strong, solid, and long-standing friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Somalia. The history of these relations spans almost 50 years. During my trip to Azerbaijan, I visited Baku and got acquainted with your country. We are glad that Azerbaijan has liberated its historical lands from occupation. During my visit to Baku, I conveyed my congratulations to my colleague and the Azerbaijani people. During my first visit, I couldn't visit Karabakh, but I really want to go there," said Minister Fiqi.

The diplomat highly appreciated Azerbaijan's preparation for the chairmanship of COP29.

"I met with the COP29 team. I saw that they are preparing for the COP at a high level, they shared their plans and experience with me. Their initiatives are very important. I also participated in many meetings organized by Azerbaijan within the UN High-Level Week. All this gives reason to say that Azerbaijan will hold an unprecedented COP, I wish your country success on this path. Somalia will be represented at COP29 in Baku at the level of the head of state," Ahmed Moallim Fiqi added.
