Slovak envoy: Visegrad Group have good ground for co-op with Azerbaijan

The countries of the Visegrad Group have a common good ground for partnership with Azerbaijan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia to Azerbaijan Milan Lajcak told journalists, Report informs.

He noted that this cooperation is carried out on the basis of a single plan developed by the EU after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“This strategy is built on the elimination of many crises: in the field of energy, food, monetary policy, and so on. The EU has decided to diversify energy sources. Azerbaijan is an extremely important partner in this. In addition, the country itself demonstrates an inclination to cooperate with the EU,” he said.

The ambassador added that the problem in the field of energy supplies from Azerbaijan is that there is not enough capacity to deliver more gas to Europe. “Now there are discussions on how to bring together interested parties to invest in capacity expansion. In this regard, we are strategic partners with Azerbaijan,” he said.

Lajcak stressed that the Visegrad Group countries and the South Caucasus region are facing numerous global crises, and the seminar “Countries of the Visegrad Group and Azerbaijan”, which was held on June 22 in Baku, is a good platform for the exchange of views on issues of concern to all.
