"It is difficult to find a starting point in the history of Turkish-Azerbaijani relations, but if there is an event to refer to, it is the Treaty of Kars," Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Cahit Bagci, told Turkish newspaper Aksam, Report informs.
"At the same time, the Shusha Declaration, signed on June 15, marked as the Day of Salvation of Azerbaijan, is extremely important. It is also significant that the document was signed on a date related to the salvation of Azerbaijan. In general, this document is in line with the geopolitics of the region, " the diplomat said.
According to the Ambassador, one of the most significant aspects of the Declaration is that the document is termless. According to him, this is the establishment of brotherhood: “If we express the Shusha Declaration in one sentence, it is the development and deepening of Turkish-Azerbaijani relations in all areas. This is a law, an instruction for everyone, an instruction to the minister, head of a department, and rector in Turkiye and Azerbaijan.
The declaration is not just about defence and energy. The document covers many areas such as culture, health, logistics, digitalization, and academic cooperation. This document aims to present the level of Turkish-Azerbaijani relations as an example to the Turkic world. I believe that such relations with the countries of the Organization of Turkic States will be established in bilateral, trilateral, and five-party formats, and will strengthen the organization.”
