Russian FM says Heydar Aliyev's contribution to Azerbaijan-Russia relations 'can hardly be overestimated'

Heydar Aliyev's contributions to the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia can hardly be overestimated, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the thematic conference "Russia-Azerbaijan relations in the 21st century: strategic partnership in the context of regional security" within the framework of the third meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani Expert Council.

According to him, national leader Heydar Aliyev played a "unifying role for our peoples."

Lavrov added that a number of events will be held in Russia in honor of the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev.
