Russia values humanitarian ties with Azerbaijan, Putin says

During a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the great importance Russia attaches to the development of the Russian language in Azerbaijan, according to Report.

The Russian leader expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's efforts in this regard.

"300 schools in the Russian language and branches of our leading universities are functioning in Azerbaijan. 1,000 young people from Azerbaijan are studying in top universities of the Russian Federation. We are ready to expand this cooperation," Putin stated.

The Russian leader also noted the activity of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the two countries, reminding that its last meeting took place 10 days ago.

Highlighting the representation of Russian culture in Azerbaijan, Putin added, "By the way, I know that in June this year, the Days of Russian Culture were held in Azerbaijan. Thank you very much for organizing this work."
