Russia sees 3+3 format as key to peace in South Caucasus

Russia views the 3+3 format as an effective mechanism for coordinating the efforts of regional countries to achieve lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during a briefing on October 16, 2024.

According to Report, Zakharova emphasized that the mentioned platform presents an opportunity to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various spheres, including trade, economy, transportation, logistics, culture, and humanitarian affairs in the region.

"On October 17-18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay a working visit to Turkiye to participate in the third meeting of the 3+3 consultative regional platform, which includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, as well as Iran, Russia, and Turkiye," Zakharova stated.

"We consider this format as an effective mechanism for coordinating the efforts of regional players to achieve lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus and the Middle East, as well as an opportunity to promote mutually beneficial cooperation," she added.

Zakharova further noted that during the event, the Russian Foreign Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts.
