Russia pledges full support for Azerbaijan's BRICS membership bid

Moscow is prepared to offer its full support to Baku in its endeavor to join the BRICS alliance, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in response to Report's question at a briefing on Wednesday.

"We respect the sovereign desire of every country, and in this case, Azerbaijan, to build closer interactions with BRICS," Zakharova said. She emphasized that the organization is objectively gaining more like-minded nations that share a common vision for shaping a fairer, more equitable, and comprehensive architecture of international cooperation.

Zakharova noted that over 30 countries have expressed interest in developing systemic ties with BRICS.

"Moscow is ready to provide all possible assistance to Baku in this matter, as allies do," she declared, adding that "the doors of BRICS remain open."
