Bulgaria promotes stability and security in the South Caucasus, President Rumen Radev said in his interview with Baku TV, Report informs.
He noted that Bulgaria contributes to finding solutions to strengthen peace and security in many critical areas of our planet: “For this reason, our country participates in many initiatives in cooperation with Azerbaijan. We promote stability and security in your region. For example, connecting, laying pipelines, construction of roads and railways, green power lines, digital cables, etc. Everything is supported by cables. These relationships contribute to peace and stability efforts. Because all conflicts go away from the place where there are strong relations.”
The President of Bulgaria said that energy issues play a key role in the relations between the two countries: "When talking about energy, I mentioned that we have done a lot. We have done a lot not only for the development of our bilateral relations, but also to support the stability and economic development of the Caucasus, the White and Black Sea regions, as well as to strengthen the energy security of Europe. It is for this reason that energy relations between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria are very important."
Rumen Radev emphasized that a strong relationship is needed to create a multi-dimensional, full-scale strategic partnership: "Our relationships are the key to our future success. Therefore, we share many ideas to develop our future activities. We had a discussion with President Ilham Aliyev about how we can benefit from the geostrategic location of our countries. We must make more efforts to develop a multimodal transport corridor, which connects Asia and Europe. We should use the advantage of Bulgaria's access to the Black Sea.”
The head of state drew attention to the fact that the hydroelectric cable intended to transport green energy between Azerbaijan and Central Europe will also reach Western Balkan countries through Bulgaria.
"We should not only focus on energy and transport connectivity. Digital connectivity is the future. Bulgaria is developing this together with Georgia. The submarine digital cable between Georgia and Bulgaria is supported by the European Commission, too. This project will allow to connect all digital data between Azerbaijan and Europe. That's why we are working hard in this field", President Radev added.
