Rubinyan: Washington Declaration has produced tangible results

The peace declaration signed in Washington between Armenia and Azerbaijan a year ago has produced tangible results, Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan said in a video address marking the first anniversary of the signing of the declaration, according to Report.

"A year ago, when the peace declaration was signed in Washington, skeptics did not believe it would lead to real peace. They did not believe it would put an end to the endless exchanges of fire and casualties along the border. They did not believe that we would emerge from a state of blockade," he said.

According to Rubinyan, Armenia not only did not remain under blockade, but was also the first to experience the positive results of unblocking, gaining rail connectivity with the outside world through the territory of Azerbaijan.

He added that a similar process is taking place in the direction of Türkiye. In particular, Türkiye recently lifted restrictions on Armenia's use of its railway network.

"This is real peace, and it is something to be welcomed. We deserve peace. Yes, not all problems have been resolved yet," Rubinyan said.
