Romanian senator: Karabakh feels like home

Romanian Senator Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țăgărlaș, a member of the Romania-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group, described Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region as “home-like” following his recent visit, Report informs.

During the trip, Niculescu-Țăgărlaș scaled the Heydar Aliyev peak (3,751 meters) in the Gizil Gaya massif of the Bashdag ridge. The senator highlighted the region’s natural beauty, noting that the climb, which took approximately six to seven hours, required determination but was not overly difficult.

“I arrived from the Karabakh region. Karabakh is a very important and special part of Azerbaijan,” he said. “This mountain is very beautiful and the air is perfect," he said, adding that it is one of the most beautiful peaks not only in Azerbaijan but across the entire South Caucasus.”

Niculescu-Țăgărlaș drew comparisons between Karabakh and the Maramures region in Romania, citing its forests, greenery, and rivers. He also praised the city of Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, for its beauty.

The senator expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Romania, Gudsi Osmanov, for organizing the visit.
