Representative of Ethiopia: Decolonization makes end of Western colonization inevitable

Decolonization makes the end of Western colonization inevitable and also glorifies the struggle against injustice, Hebran Fekadu Gebre, an Ethiopian NGO chairman, said at the international conference “Neo-colonialism: violation of human rights and injustice”, organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), Report informs.

"Europe must accept the damage caused by colonial policy to healthcare and healthcare workers. Today, local specialists should be involved in the healthcare system. France has created complex situations in the history of nations. Although Ethiopia was not a colony, we can note that certain problems were created for this country as well," she added.

Gebre said that France, like other colonial countries, has always been interested in the region. Ethiopia has always worked for the restoration of sovereignty.

The head of the NGO emphasized that the historical context should be taken into account in the issue of decolonization: "Conditions must be created for a compromise based on common values. Decolonization requires the participation of various countries. As a result of these participations, a global healthcare system can be established."
