Putin: 'We will pay special attention to military cooperation during CIS chairmanship'

During its presidency of the CIS next year, Russia will pay special attention to economic integration, military cooperation and the fight against falsification of history, President Vladimir Putin said at the expanded meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS held in Bishkek, Report informs.

"In the field of military and law enforcement, Russia will pay attention to the improvement of the mechanisms of joint struggle against both new and traditional challenges, strengthening the external borders of the CIS. We will do everything necessary for the full implementation of the relevant programs of the CIS, including the concept of military cooperation and the program of strengthening border security," he noted.

Putin emphasized that Russia attaches great importance to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian relations, cooperation in the fields of healthcare, science, education and sports: "We consider it important to take coordinated steps against attempts to falsify history."

He also expects that the activity of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries will be given an additional impetus during the Russian presidency: "Moscow is also interested in intensifying cooperation between legislators for the formation of a single legal space, strengthening relations with the parliamentary associations of the CSTO and other partner structures."
