President: Zangazur corridor’s legal regime must correspond to Lachin corridor

The rules for using the Zangazur and Lachin corridors should be similar, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this at a press conference following a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels, Report informs.

"The legal regime of the Zangazur corridor should be exactly the same as that of the Lachin corridor," the president said.

"There are no posts in the Lachin corridor. Accordingly, there should be no customs posts in the Zangazur corridor. If Armenia wants to control goods and people, we will open a customs post in the Lachin corridor," President Ilham Aliyev added.

The president recalled that the issue of opening the Zangazur corridor is reflected in the trilateral statement. signed on November 10, 2021, by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Armenia.

“For Armenia, this is a kind of obligation to provide all the necessary conditions [for the implementation of the agreement]. At this stage, we have reached an agreement on the construction of a railway link from Azerbaijan through Armenia to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as on the construction of a highway. But the exact route of the highway has not yet been determined. This is a matter of future discussions, and we will certainly discuss it tonight at a trilateral meeting with Mr. Charles Michel," President Ilham Aliyev said.
