The Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly of Azerbaijan) Sahiba Gafarova is on a working visit to Tajikistan to participate in the International Parliamentary Conference organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Tajikistan, Report informs.
On October 10, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and the heads of parliamentary delegations from other countries participating in the Conference met with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
Greeting the guests, the President of Tajikistan shared his thoughts on the importance of the international conference. He spoke about the role of the Constitution's adoption in the development of Tajikistan, including the strengthening of parliamentary traditions in the country. He assessed the adoption of the Constitution as one of the first and continuous steps towards political reforms and strengthening state independence.
Emomali Rahmon also expressed his views on important aspects of cooperation between countries, including humanitarian ties based on cultural and historical similarities, emphasizing that the legislative bodies of the countries can make significant contributions to the constructive development of this process.
During the conversation, attention was also paid to the cooperation of parliaments within the framework of international and regional inter-parliamentary structures.
