The President of the International Association of Children's Funds, Chairman of the Russian Children's Fund, writer Albert Likhanov was awarded the Dostlug order for his merits to strengthening humanitarian ties between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation in Moscow, Russian Bureau of Report says.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu congratulated Albert Likhanov on his 85th anniversary on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev 85th anniversary and presented the order.

"Azerbaijan highly appreciates your careful attitude to the dear memory of the Azerbaijani people's outstanding son, Heydar Aliyev. His significant contribution to the noble cause of protecting destitute children and your joint work with him resulted in the creation of the Soviet Children's Fund," the Ambassador said in a message of congratulations on behalf of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Albert Likhanov, in turn, noted that Heydar Aliyev was always nearby and supported them:

"We discussed a lot of problems with him, such as a global and still unresolved issue- school of the future. He once invited me to his house, showed me albums especially. Only for alone! There were such architectural albums dedicated to the future school: He explained how to design and arrange it, what they should include. These were miracles that have not been realized almost until now. We can say that he was at the beginning of our future. It is essential to emphasize."

"The decision of the President of Azerbaijan to support my candidacy for the award of the order of Friendship is gracious, noble, and dear to me. I am grateful to Azerbaijan, the current President, and those who are generally aware of the history of Heydar Aliyev's participation in the creation of systematic assistance to orphaned children. It is costly for me!" -Likhanov stated.
