President Ilham Aliyev's statements in Cernobbio in spotlight of world media outlets

Leading foreign media widely covered the speech of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the session on "Azerbaijan's role in the new geopolitical environment" at the International Forum in Cernobbio, Italy, themed “Intelligence on the World, Europe, and Italy.”

According to Report, the article in the international news agency Reuters "Azerbaijani president confident on Ukraine gas route talks" cites the head of state's statements regarding Baku's mediation in the issue of Russian gas transit through Ukraine to Europe.

The Bloomberg article "Azerbaijan in talks to send gas to three more European countries" notes that Azerbaijan already supplies gas to eight European countries and has an agreement with the European Union to double exports by 2027.

According to the article, Ilham Aliyev confirmed that Moscow and Kyiv have asked him to facilitate gas transit through Ukraine to Europe when the key agreement expires in December.

One solution could be to replace Russian supplies with gas from another country, such as Azerbaijan or Türkiye. This would allow Ukraine to continue receiving transit fees, and Europe to continue receiving gas, the article says.

The Azerbaijani leader's statements regarding Europe's energy security and Russian gas transit have also been widely covered by the Financial Post, The Straits Times, U.S. News, World Energy News, etc.

The Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, in turn, devoted an article to President Ilham Aliyev's statements on supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity and Baku's position on sanctions against Russia.

"We support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and all countries <…> However, Azerbaijan has not been and will not be part of the anti-Russian sanctions campaign," the publication quotes Ilham Aliyev as saying.

The article headlined "Aliyev says Baku ready to participate in settlement between Moscow and Kyiv" posted in Russia's TASS information agency notes that "Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev did not rule out the possibility of his country's participation in resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine." The statements of the President of Azerbaijan regarding the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and negotiations on gas transit to Europe were also widely covered by Russian media outlets such as Komsomolskaya Pravda, Interfax, Vedomosti, Izvestia and others.
