President Ilham Aliyev received Japan's Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs

Baku. 30 August. REPORT.AZ/ President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Motome Takisawa.

Report informs, the head of state said the visit of Motome Takisawa was a good opportunity for getting familiarized with Azerbaijan, expressing his confidence that it would contribute to strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries. Saying that Azerbaijan and Japan had maintained successful cooperation for more than twenty years, President Ilham Aliyev noted that the relations covered a number of areas. Pointing to strong political ties between the two countries, the head of state said that many Japanese companies were involved in various projects in Azerbaijan, and that there were good prospects for relations between business circles. “Our relations are multifaceted,” said President Ilham Aliyev, expressing his confidence that the bilateral cooperation would continue developing and strengthening. The head of state stressed the importance of the visit in terms of determining further development of ties.

During the conversation, they noted that there were favorable conditions for elevating the economic relations between the two countries to a new level, and exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of oil and gas, high technologies, agriculture, pharmaceuticals industry, and education.

Motome Takisawa said he was aware that President Ilham Aliyev was a statesman who deeply loved sports, adding that he was following with great interest Azerbaijan’s accomplishments in sports. He said the first European Games were successfully held in Baku, and invited the President of Azerbaijan to the 2020 Summer Olympic Games to be held in Japan. Motome Takisawa hailed the Azerbaijani and Japanese athletes’ successful performance in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The head of state extended his congratulations on Tokyo’s hosting 2020 Summer Olympics, and expressed his confidence that the Games would be excellently organized.
