President Ilham Aliyev on EU-Azerbaijan relations

"I did not see any serious criticism of EU during the conflict, neither myself, nor any of our establishment," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said addressing a conference entitled ‘New Vision for South Caucasus: Post-Conflict Development and Cooperation’ at ADA University on April 13, Report informs.

"Yes, there was criticism about some EU member-states. But they acted in their national capacity during the war, but not as an EU member-state. With respect to the EU, it is now Armenia who is criticizing the EU for not helping. It is a big question how EU could help?" he said.

The president said negotiations with the EU on a new agreement have been frozen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"But I have already publicly said that as soon as Covid is over more or less, and the situation will be more stable, we will restart. A big part of that agreement has already been agreed, it is only some 7 or 8 percent needs to be agreed," the head of state said.
