Azerbaijan's allocation of $7.6 million in new aid package for the humanitarian needs of Ukraine has, undoubtedly, become the news of the week, Ukrainian political expert Aleksey Buryachenko told Report.
According to him, this indicates that the friendship and constructive interaction between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are entering a new strategic level.
"Assistance from Azerbaijan is aimed at the speedy repair, resumption and decoupling of Ukraine's power grid, since it is a secret to no one that 55% of Ukraine's generation has been destroyed as a result of massive rocket attacks, of which 70% is thermal power and nearly 50% of lines transmitting electric power to ultimate consumers," he said.
Buryachenko said it is not the first case when the Azerbaijani people and personally President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev extend their helping hand to the Ukrainians.
"Since the very start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received dozens of tons of key and essential humanitarian cargoes from Azerbaijan," he said.
The expert reminded that Azerbaijan provided the significant assistance to Ukraine just recently after the explosion at the Kakhovka dam.
"At that time Ukraine received a sewage pipeline for pumping sewage, underwater pumps, motor pumps, rubber boats, protective suits, life jackets, summer and winter clothes. Also, traditionally, the SOCAR filling station network belonging to Azerbaijan provides fuel in humanitarian purposes primarily for ambulance vehicles," he added.
