Bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia has great potential and will expand further, Latvian political scientist Alex Grigorievs told Report.
According to him, the current level of cooperation is good, but it lacks scope.
“Much is based on personal friendship and cooperation between Latvians and Azerbaijanis, including Latvians in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis in Latvia, which is very good, but not enough,” he added.
The political expert emphasized that the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO) and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIDA) will contribute to greater cooperation and expansion of trade between Latvia and Azerbaijan.
Alex Grigoroievs believes that there is also potential for energy cooperation. In particular, the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR may develop its business in Latvia. He expressed hope that SOCAR will soon enter the Latvian market as well.
